Chicken biryani served on roasted pumpkin. Indian cuisine


Biryani is a rice dish of Indian cuisine, made with a mixture of spices, as well as long grain rice, meat or vegetables, and yogurt. There are many ways to prepare biryani. The one that we propose on this occasion is a simple recipe and delicious: the Chicken biryani, served on half a roasted pumpkin. A dish to be enjoyed by everyone in the family. Let's put on the table of our house a different and exquisite flavor of Indian cuisine. Follow the recipe step by step.

  • ½ large pumpkin
  • 250 gr. long grain rice
  • 400 gr. boneless chicken
  • 1 natural yogurt / 3 cups of water
  • 1 onion / 2 tomatoes / 2 green peppers
  • 4 tablespoons butter or margarine / raisins
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and spices (cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf, mint, hot pepper, and curry)

1- Before starting the chicken biryani recipe, prepare the pumpkin. Cut it in half and put it in a bowl with a little oil. Let it roast until it is soft. That may take about 15 minutes. Then take it out of the oven and let it cool to use it later as a presentation of our recipe.

2- The first step of the recipe is to marinate the chicken. Clean it well, then cut it into small pieces and marinate it in a mixture of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon of hot paprika, ½ teaspoon of crushed garlic and salt to taste.

3- While the chicken is marinating, place the oil in a pan with two tablespoons of butter or margarine and bring to medium heat.

4- Add the onion cut in julienne, the pieces of peppers, the minced mint, the cinnamon, the raisins, the cloves and bay leaf. Saute everything.

5- Add the tomatoes cut into thin strips, then the crushed garlic, and finally the marinated chicken.

6- Sprinkle everything with paprika and salt and let it cook.

7- Meanwhile, in a saucepan place the water, the yogurt and a cup of the mixture from the pan.

8- Add the rice and bring to the fire to boil until the rice is cooked.

9- When the rice is done, add it to the mixture in the pan. Before heating everything, add the butter.

10- To serve, simply place the biryani inside the pumpkin, period. Our plate will be ready to be served, accompanied with a rich salad. Hmm ...
